Join the Nevada City Rancheria Nisenan Tribe and HUṠWEJ for our 17th annual Nisenan Heritage Day on Sunday, October 11th from 12:00pm - 4:00pm.
Together, we’ll celebrate Nisenan Culture and the Nevada City Rancheria Nisenan Tribe’s history and future in their Ancestral Homelands.
This year’s event will include educational panels about Indigenous Land Stewardship and Tribal TEK, as-well-as conversations about funding for continued Land Rematriation.
Featured guests this year include author Josh Weils who will share about his acclaimed book, “What Came West” and his amazing art! We are also excited for a very special appearance by Dr. Lyla June Johnston, an Indigenous musician, scholar, and community organizer of Diné (Navajo), Tsétsêhéstâhese (Cheyenne) and European lineages.
There will be a children’s activity corner, partner information booths, HUṠWEJ merchandise, and a raffle. This is a free event. All ages welcome.
